Installing a Wallet Server

Requirements

The bar to running your own Wallet Server is not high and is accessible to almost anyone that can acquire an entry level PC with a reliable internet connection and keep the device on 24/7.

Whether you choose to use a laptop, desktop or mini-PC is up to your personal preference and they have their own trade-offs with respect to price, form factor, power supply options, the need for external ancillaries as well as the ability to upgrade.

It is not necessary to use a brand new computer. Refurbished or renewed machines manufactured within the last five years with the attributes below will perform far better than the newest single board computers.

Specifications:

  • x86-64 architecture
  • 2 GHz dual-core or better processor
  • Minimum 8 GB RAM
  • 2TB NVMe based SSD

Note: It is certainly possible to run a wallet server on hardware which differs to this, however, for best performance it is advisable to follow the recommendations as this is what the wallet will be tested on.
